Matthew C. Brenneman is of counsel to Cowie & Mott, P.A. He is a graduate of Duke Law School (1986), where he served as managing editor of the Duke Legal Research Program. Mr. Brenneman received his undergraduate degree from Tufts University, from which he graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in English and History (1983). Mr. Brenneman is admitted to practice law in the states of Maryland and Connecticut, and concentrates his practice in corporation law, mergers and acquisitions, securities law, contract law, and complex business transactions. Mr. Brenneman most recently served as assistant general counsel to Sylvan Learning Systems, Inc. and acting general counsel to Caliber Learning Network, Inc., a Sylvan affiliate. Mr. Brenneman has represented business entities and entrepreneurs from start-up through initial public offering and is an expert in disclosure and reporting requirements under the securities laws. Mr. Brenneman also assists clients with equity and asset-based financing, work-outs, asset sales, and general business representation.
